NZOC: Net Zero Oceanographic Capability Scoping Study

May 2021

In 2019, UKRI commissioned the National Oceanography Centre to identify the options for developing a world-class oceanographic capability with a reduced carbon footprint by presenting a range of options for transitioning to low or zero carbon capabilities. The aim of the Net Zero Oceanographic Capability (NZOC) scoping study was to support UKRI's objective to be net-zero by 2040 and its ambition to "be a leader in environmental sustainability for the sector". The NZOC Report aimed to be audacious and forward-looking, challenging assumptions so as to act as a catalyst for others to engage in this transformation.

NZOC Scoping Study Work Package Reports

The NZOC Report combines the findings of six Work Packages. The findings of the NZOC work packages were also informed by a number of Independent Reports commissioned as part of the project.
